St. Paul Public Library Summer Magic Sampler
It didn’t take three tries to be charmed by the trio of magic shows going on this summer at the St. Paul Public Library branches. Each performer offered up a unique style to present their sleight of hand and entertain my children (ranging in age from 8 months to 7 years).

Magical Mia had my girls captivated by her beautiful blend of magic, music and dance. Streaming rainbow scarves, fans, pearl necklaces and bubbles had even the baby sitting still on my lap. Mia pulled a gem from Olivia’s hair and thrilled Emily by making my ring (temporarily) disappear.
Brodini of Brodini Comedy Magic entertained with his somewhat goofy, relaxed pace. His bag of tricks seemed geared more toward the older kids in the crowd – or those with a longer attention span.

And Magician Matt Dunn nailed the balance of kid/adult appeal by combining perfect comedic timing with gross-out humor. His Houdini rabbit trick got big oohs and ahhs from all ages. I’m still scratching my head wondering where that rabbit went.
For the Files: All three magic shows are part of the St. Paul Public Library Summer Reading Program and will be performed at various branches throughout the summer. Check the Library’s event calendar for showtimes and other summer family events.
